Argon is the most abundant member of the rare gas family, accounting for about 1% of the earth’s atmosphere. It is monatomic and inert, forming no known chemical compounds. In its liquid form, it has no taste, color, or odor on top of being non-corrosive, non-flammable, and extremely cold.
The extreme coldness comes from it being a cryogenic liquid with a boiling point of –303°F (–186°C). Special equipment like an argon cryogenic storage tank from cryogenic storage tank manufacturers is required to safely store liquid argon. The storage tank’s main purpose is to keep this surrounding heat away from the product as the temperature difference is quite significant.
Even though it is one of the main ingredients for creating life, it can also be life-threatening in its liquid form. Some of the major issues it can cause if not properly stored are listed below.
